Our Story...

South Side Suzuki Cooperative, 501c3, was founded with the mission of creating a music school where students could be part of a vibrant musical community while still allowing teachers the freedoms of running their own independent and unique private studios. Each teacher has control over their own rates, schedules, and policies. The studios then come together with pooled resources to provide group classes, large scale concerts, masterclasses, and other community events. A common thread amongst our incredible faculty is their commitment to the Suzuki philosophy of education.

In addition to our teachers' years of formal education, it a requirement that each faculty member pursues yearly professional development so that they continue to deepen their practice as pedagogues during their time at South Side Suzuki.

In 2022, South Side Suzuki teachers all moved into the Hyde Park Neighborhood Club building. All of our private lessons, classes and rehearsals happen all in one place! From our humble beginnings as separate studios coming together for events, we now function as a community music school that services well over one hundred families.

We are proud community partners with the Logan Center for the Arts, Augustana Lutheran Church, University Church and the Hyde Park Neighborhood.
